About Us

Our mission is to connect volunteers in San Diego and North County to meaningful outreach projects to help the hungry, the hurting and the homeless right here in our own neighborhood.  Most of our communication is done electronically; most of our outreach is done on a project basis. We also have an active KidzCare group for 5 to 12 years olds and Teens Care group for 13-18 years old. Sometimes we bring the guys out for projects for “Guys Care, Too!”

We normally have casual brunch meetings every quarter on the First Saturday in San Diego and every month on the Second Saturday in North County which include a speaker, a hands-on outreach project, and fellowship with other volunteers. Locations vary, but often include the sites of various outreach organizations. This is a great way to find out what’s available and be part of the fun and friendship; however, it is not a requirement to attend regular meetings in order to participate in our outreaches. There is no obligation.

GFC offers a smorgasbord of outreach from which to choose.  We have ongoing projects throughout the year like gift bags for women in transition and prayer pillowcases. We also add various new projects as someone is inspired or a need arises within our partner organizations…it could be a food drive, a “Got Socks” campaign, a workshop, or any other need we see.  We believe in “no-guilt” in everything we do…you give from your heart, not out of obligation. At Girlfriends Care, we’re more about collecting hearts than we are about collecting money.

One of our volunteers stated it perfectly when she said “GFC has provided me the opportunity to serve my community in ways that work within my schedule, passion and skill sets!”
