2022 Holiday Needs – Solutions for Change

Posted 11/18/22

Breaking and Entering

For the 5th year in a row, a team of girlfriends will be making Christmas a memorable season for the newest families at Solutions for Change by secretly decorating their living quarters while they are away as part of Solutions for Change’s yearly Breaking and Entering event. As in previous years, we hope to provide families with new items such as: blankets, pillows, sheets, towels, ginger bread houses, decorations to “DECK THE HALLS” inside and out and of course gifts from Santa for parents & children.

  • Our greatest need is monetary donations as soon as possible so our team can shop for all the specific items that are needed. Click here to donate to this event.
  • We also need new or used Christmas lights, decorations and lawn ornaments.
  • There will be limited 2 hour shifts available if you want to help with the event on December 6th.
For details on this event, please reach out to Terri Williams at 760-473-7067 or Ttscupofjoe@yahoo.com.

2022 Jeans Drive

Posted May 27, 2022
In July Girlfriends Care will be helping local families by collecting and distributing new or gently used jeans.  You know; the outgrown ones in our closets which are still in great condition.  Some may look like they’ve never been worn!
When: Drop off locations available between June 1st and June 30th. Email passion2serve@girlfriendscare.org for drop off locations.
Sizes: All sizes needed to fit tots to adults
Condition: Jeans should be in very good/new condition

Jeans will be distributed to families in local transition programs such as Solutions for Change, Operation Hope, and, inventory allowing, additional families in need in North County through local agencies.   How you can get involved:

  • Gather outgrown jeans from your families closets.
  • Ask friends and neighbors to participate.  Either casually or at a simple event such as an ice cream social.  Everyone brings jeans.
  • Support local businesses and consider donating a new pair or two.
  • Get your church, club, school or team involved!  And set up a convenient drop off location for the members.
  • Make a drop box and ask a local business to take donations.  Make sure you check the location regularly and empty the box as needed!
  • Donate online or by check and let us do the shopping for you.
  • Purchase new jeans online and have them delivered to a drop off location.
You can increase Girlfriends Care’s outreach by involving your friends and family in this drive. Almost everyone has at least one pair on jeans collecting dust in their closet!
